The road to Vahue Custom Homes started long before its formation. In 1977, Marty Vahue began his career in residential homebuilding as a carpenter’s apprentice in Western New York. It was during this hands-on apprenticeship that Marty learned every aspect of building a new home.
After mastering his craft as a carpenter in new home construction, Marty started his own GC contracting firm in his home town of Western NY in 1981. Shortly thereafter, in 1984, Marty had his first opportunity to build his first turn key custom home. He continued to build homes as a General Contractor in Western NY until 1996 when he made the smart decision to move South to Raleigh, NC.

In 1996, Marty moved to Raleigh, NC where he started a custom trim company, MV Custom Trim, specializing in interior trim for high end custom homes. After successfully running MV Trim in the triangle area, Marty started Vahue Building Corp in 2005 and built several homes in the area, while continuing to trim homes for other builders. Over the course of almost 20 years, Marty and his skilled team trimmed over 1000 homes in the Triangle new construction market. In 2015, after moving his operation to the coastal market, Marty rebranded his company to Vahue Custom Homes and has since then built custom homes in many planned communities throughout the area, as well as on privately owned properties.

Since 2015, Vahue Custom Homes has earned their status as an award-winning custom builder serving various markets in North Carolina. Despite the growth that has ensued, they have stayed true to their early values built on hands-on experience, quality, Precision and Personal Attention. Marty takes pride in his attention to detail and his ability to listen to his clients’ needs and translating plans into dream homes. Vahue Custom Homes builds the most distinctive custom homes that provide long lasting legacies for generations to come.

Marty Vahue is a classic example of a builder who “came up through the trades.” From framing and interior trim contractor to home builder, Marty’s hands-on experience produced an overall understanding of the homebuilding process. The years of hands-on experience in the industry are what set him apart from other custom builders in the market. Marty has instilled these principals in his team so that this experience and precision still carries through to each home he builds.
